Any police officer who vexatiously and unnecessarily delays forwarding any person arrested to a Magistrate or to any other authority to whom he is legally to forward such person, shall on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both. 65 Consequence of failure to return to duty after leave.
