Any police officer who- ( a) without lawful authority or reasonable cause enters or searches, or causes to be entered or searched, any building, vessel, tent or place; (b) vexatiously and unnecessarily seizes the property of any person; ( c) vexatiously and unnecessarily detains, searches or arrests any person; ( d) offers any unnecessmy personal violence to any person in his custody; or (e) holds out any threat or promise not warranted by law, shall for every such offence, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.
