Subject to the provisions of this Act, and the Regulations, the Academic Council of the University shall have the following powers, namely:- Academic Council. Powers and functions of Academic Council. 15 (i) to exercise control and general regulation over the academic policies of the University and be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of standards of instruction, education and evaluation in the University; (ii) to consider matters of general academic interest either on its own initiative or on a reference from the Faculty of the University or the Board and to take appropriate action thereon; (iii) to recommend to the Board such Regulations as are consistent with this Act regarding the academic functioning of the University including discipline of students; and (iv) to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the Regulations.
