Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, it shall be lawful for a municipality Other Committees. Consultative Committees. When person other than councillors may serve on Committee. 1964 : Guj. 34] Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963 51 of 158 from time to time by a resolution supported by not less than one half of the whole number of councillors, to elect as members of any committee appointed under section 56, any person of either sex, who is not a councillor but who in the opinion of such municipality possesses special qualifications for serving on such committee or who represents any authority or interests : Provided that the number of persons so elected on any Committee shall not exceed one-third of the total number of the members of such Committee. All the provisions of this Act relating to the duties, powers, liabilities, disqualifications and disabilities of councillors shall be applicable so far as may be to such persons.
