(1) The Senate shall consist of the following members, namely :— Class—1 Ex-Officio Members. (A) (i) The Chancellor, (ii) The Vice-Chancellor, (iii) Ex-Vice-Chancellors of the University who are residing in the State, 25[(iiia) The Director of the Board of Post-Graduate Teaching and Research.] (iv) The Director of Pharmacy, (v) The Director of Botanical Garden, (vi) The Registrar; (B) (i) The Secretary to the Government of Gujarat in charge of the Department of Health; (ii) The Director of Health and Medical Services, Gujarat State; [26(iii) The Director, Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy, Gujarat State;] 27[(iv) The Adviser, Ayurved, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.] (C) (i) Heads of University Departments, (ii) Principals of affiliated colleges. Class II-Ordinary Members. (A) Elected as specified below:— (i) 28[Four] members by teachers of affiliated colleges excluding the Principals thereof, from amongst themselves in the manner prescribed by the Statutes; 28[((ia) One member to be elected by teachers of the Board of Post-Graduate Teaching and Research, excluding the Dean and Heads of Departments, from amongst themselves in the manner prescribed by the Statutes] (ii) Seven members by registered graduates from amongst themselves in the manner prescribed by the Statutes; (iii) by public association or body as under :— (a) two Members by the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from amongst its members; (b) One member by the Ayurved Vikas Mandal functioning in the state: Provided that every person elected under clause (i) and under sub-clauses (a) and (b) of clause (iii) shall continue to hold office of a member of the Senate only so long as in the case of clause (i) he is a teacher of an affiliated college and in the case of clause (iii) a member The Senate.
