Power to enter for repairs and to prevent accidents.— In case of any accidents being apprehended or happening to a canal, the Canal-Officer and any person acting under the general or special order of any such Canal-Officer, may enter upon land adjacent to such canal and may take all materials required to execute all works which may be necessary to such lands for the purpose of preventing such accident or repairing any damage done.
