Framing of Record of Rights.— (1) As soon as possible after the expiry of the period fixed by the Collector under clause (c) of section 60, a Canal-Officer duly empowered by the Government in this behalf who shall be a revenue officer not below the rank of a mamlatdar shall inquire into and settle claims to any rights in the Second- -Class Canal and shall record the extent of such right and draw up in such form as may be prescribed an Irrigation Record of Rights so far as the same may be ascertainable from the records of the Government and the evidence of any person likely to be acquainted with the same and any other documentary or oral evidence which the parties concerned or their witnesses may produce. (2) Such Record of Rights shall contain the following matters namely:— (a) the nature of Second-class Canal and any work subsidiary thereto; (b) the land irrigable thereform; (c) the custom or rule of irrigation; (d) the rights to water and the conditions on which such rights are enjoyed; and ---16--- (e) such other matter as the Government may, by rules, prescribed in this behalf.
