Power to compound offence – (1) With the previous approval of the Director, the secretary of a Marketing Committee or any other officers authorised by the Director in this behalf, may accept from any person against whom a reasonable suspicion exists that he has committed an offence under this Act or any rules, regulations or bye-laws made there-under, a sum of money by way of composition of such offence. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, on the payment of such amount of money to the Marketing Committee, the suspected person, if in custody, shall be discharged and no further proceedings shall be taken against such person.
