Definitions.— In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) “animal” means any domesticated animal or bird, or any animal or bird kept in confinement; (b) “export” means to take out of the Union territory, otherwise than across a customs frontier; (c) “Government” means the Government of Goa, Daman and Diu; (d) “import” means to bring into the Union territory, otherwise than across a customs frontier; (e) “infective animal” means an animal which is affected with a scheduled disease or has recently been in contact with or in close proximity to an animal so affected; (f) “Inspector” means an Inspector appointed under section 3; (g) “prescribed” means prescribed by rules; (h) “rules” means rules made under section 37; (i) “scheduled disease” means any disease specified in the schedule; (j) “transport” means to remove to one place from another place within the Union territory; (k) “Union territory” means Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu; (l) “Veterinary Surgeon” means the Veterinary Surgeon appointed under section 3.
