The following shall be substituted for sec- of Assam Act tion 18 of the Principal Act, nam ely :— XXI of 1959 18(1) The State Government may, by notifi cation in the official Gazette, constitute for the State and for such period as it may deem fit a State Prohibition Council consisting of two or more non official residents of the State as m ay be prescribed by the State Government. The State Government may, by like notification, dissolve or reconstitute any such Council. 18(2) The State Prohibition Council may, by notification in the official Gazette, constitute for any district or part there of and for such period as it may deem fit, "Prohibition Committees” consisting of two or more non-official residents of the district. The State Prohibition Council may, by like notification, dis solve or reconstitute any such Commit tee. (3) For the purposes of sections 11 and 12 of the Act, the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint any member of a Prohibi tion Committee by virtu e of office or otherwise to be a Prohibition officer and th e relation of officers so appointed to the State Prohibition Council shall be such as may be prescribed.
