No. Date Office Notes, reports, orders or proceedings or directions and Registrar’s order with Signatures COURT’S OR JUDGE’S ORDERS WPCRL/1527/2026 Rupinder Kaur --Petitioner Versus Senior Superintendent Of Police, Dehradun --Respondent Hon'ble Alok Mahra, J. Mr. Shariq Khurshid, learned counsel for the petitioner. Mr. Dinesh Chauhan, learned A.G.A. for the State of Uttarakhand. 2. By means of the present Criminal Writ Petition, the petitioner seeks the following relief: "i. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing respondent nos. 1 and 2 to provide adequate protection to the petitioner from respondent nos. 3 and 4, so that she may live a peaceful life." 3. It is submitted that the petitioner is a major and has filed the present writ petition seeking protection from respondent nos. 3 and 4, who are her father and husband, respectively. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that respondent no. 4 has continuously subjected the petitioner to mental and physical abuse, on account of which she left his company and is no longer residing with him. It is further submitted that the petitioner apprehends a threat to her life and personal liberty at the hands of respondent nos. 3 and 4. 4. Having considered the submissions advanced by the learned counsel for the parties and in view of the law laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in Lata Singh v. State of U.P. and Another, reported in (2006) 5 SCC 475, this Court is of the opinion that the petitioner has made out a prima facie case for protection of her life and personal liberty guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. 5. Accordingly, the Station House Officer, Police Station Dehradun, District Dehradun, is UKHC010136672026 2026:UHC:6802 directed to assess the threat perception, if any, to the life and personal liberty of the petitioner. In the event any genuine threat is found to exist, adequate protection shall be provided to the petitioner strictly in accordance with law. The Station House Officer shall also summon respondent nos. 3 and 4, as well as any other person found to be interfering with or threatening the petitioner, and counsel them to maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. 6. With the aforesaid directions, the present Criminal Writ Petition stands disposed of.
