In the matter of : Dinesh Halder
… Petitioner(s) Mr. Khalid Hasan
… for the Petitioner(s) Mr. Joydeep Biswas Mr. Pratick Bose
… for the State-respondent(s)
Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than a year and there has been no progress in the case. Learned advocate for the State, on the other hand, submits that out of the 23 witnesses cited in the charge- sheet, 16 witnesses have already been and the present case involves heinous offence of two persons having been murdered. Having regard to the heinousness of the crime and the advanced stage of the case, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail. Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected. Accordingly, CRM (M) 705 of 2026 is dismissed.
