Petitioners have approached this Court seeking the following reliefs:- “(i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent nos. 2 and 3 to provide adequate security to the petitioners and also to direct the respondent nos. 4 to 6 not to interfere in the life and liberty of the petitioners, in any way. (ii) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent no. 2 to decide the representation dated 03.08.2026 (Annexure No. 3) and provide adequate protection to the petitioners.” 4. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioners that petitioner no. 2 is married to respondent no. 4, but, due to matrimonial discord, both are not living together for last more than two years and a divorce petition has also been filed, which is pending consideration before the concerned court. It is also averred in the writ petition that petitioner no. 1 and petitioner no. 2 are living together. It is further submitted that both the petitioners are major and they are constantly receiving threat from the private respondents. 5. Both the petitioners are present before this Court and they submit that they are facing stiff resistance, and they seriously apprehend threat to their life and limb from the private respondents, and hence they are before this Court praying for protection. 6. In that view of the matter, the petitioners have made out a case for grant of protection. 7. The Station House Officer, Police Station Gadarpur, District Udham Singh Nagar is directed to assess the threat, if any, to the life and limb of the petitioners, and provide necessary protection, if it is found that there is a threat to the life and limb of the petitioners. The S.H.O. concerned shall also summon the private respondents and counsel them, in accordance with law. 8. With the above observation, the writ petition stands disposed of.
