The petitioners in WP No.1848/2026 are before this Court seeking for the following reliefs: 1. “By calling for Records on the file of Respondent No 2. 2. Quash the Endorsement issued by Respondent No 2 dated 23.10.2025 bearing No MY:MA: PA 4744/2025-26(Annexure-A) 3. Issue Writ of Mandamus Directing Respondent No 2 to carryout Amendment/Correction name of Petitioner's father in the Birth Certificate of the Petitioner's. 4. Grant such order relief as this Hon'ble court deems fit to Grant Hon'ble Court.” 2. The petitioners in WP No.1927/2026 are before this Court seeking for the following reliefs: - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:11555 WP No. 1848 of 2026 C/W WP No. 1927 of 2026 “a) By calling for Records on the file of Respondent No 2. b) Quash the Endorsement issued by Respondent No 2 dated 23.10.2025 bearing No MY:MA: PA 4740/2025-26(Annexure-A) c) Issue Writ of Mandamus Directing Respondent No 2 to carryout Amendment/Correction name of Petitioner's father in the Birth Certificate. d) Grant such order relief as this Hon'ble court deems fit to Grant Hon'ble Court.” 3. The petitioners-minors represented by their father had filed the above petitions seeking for the aforesaid reliefs. 4. The correction which the petitioners had sought for in their birth certificates is to change the name of the father from ‘Stanly’ to ‘Siddaraju.J’. 5. The submission made in this regard is, ‘Stanly’ is the baptism name of the father, but in all official records, their father name continues as ‘Siddharaju.J’. When it was brought to the notice of the learned counsel for the petitioners that mother had not been made a party, the petitioners have filed an impleading application. The mother was brought on record as - 5 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:11555 WP No. 1848 of 2026 C/W WP No. 1927 of 2026 petitioner no.2 in the above petitions. She has filed an affidavit indicating that she has no objections for the aforesaid change. 6. In that view of the matter, considering that the name of the father in all official records as produced namely the Aadhar card at Annexure-C, I am of the considered opinion that the above petitions are required to be allowed since there is no particular recognition of the name of ‘Stanly’ by any particular official document. As such, I pass the following: ORDER i) The Writ petitions are allowed. ii) The endorsementsdated 23.10.2025 at Annexure-A annexed to both the petitions are quashed. iii) Respondents are directed to carry out necessary correction in the birth certificate of the minors petitioners in respect of the father's name by changing it from ‘Stanly’ to ‘Siddaraju.J’ and - 6 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:11555 WP No. 1848 of 2026 C/W WP No. 1927 of 2026 issue a fresh certificate within a period of 60 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
