Petitioners have approached this Court seeking the following reliefs: “(i) Writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the Respondent no.2 to provide protection to the petitioners from the respondent no. 4.” 4. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioners that both the petitioners are major and they belong to the same faith. It is further submitted that the petitioners developed a liking for each other, which has ended in love and they have solemnized their Nikah on 06.08.2026, at Village Landhora, District Haridwar. 5. It is further submitted by learned counsel for the petitioners that respondent no. 4, who is elder sister of petitioner no. 1, is not happy with this marriage and thus she is threatening the petitioners of dire consequences. 6. Petitioners submit that they are facing stiff resistance, and they seriously apprehend threat to their life and limb from their family members, and hence they are before this Court praying for protection. 7. Both the petitioners are present before this Court and they have submitted that they will soon register their marriage under Rules 7(1)(g) of U.C.C. 8. In that view of the matter, and in view of the ruling of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Lata Singh Vs State of U.P. and another, (2006) 5 SCC 475, the petitioners have made out a case for grant of protection. 9. The Station House Officer, Police Station Manglaur, District Haridwar is directed to assess the threat, if any, to the life and limb of the petitioners, and provide necessary protection, if it is found that there is a threat to the life and limb of the petitioners. The S.H.O. concerned is further directed to summon the private respondents, and such other persons, who are inimically placed towards the marriage of the petitioners, and counsel them, in accordance with law. 10.
