The petitioner claims to be the owner and in possession of the property bearing Sy.No.33, measuring 10 cents. The petitioner acquired the said property by way of a registered partition deed dated 09.01.2024. Pursuant thereto, the petitioner filed an application before the respondent seeking power supply to his newly constructed residential house. It is stated that the respondent approved the power connection on 21.01.2026 and also conducted an inspection and submitted a report. Thereafter, the respondent prepared an estimate and issued a work order. - 3 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:23775 WP No. 11814 of 2026 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that, despite submission of the report on 21.01.2026 and completion of all procedural formalities, the respondent has not provided the power connection to the petitioner’s premises. 4. Per contra, learned counsel for the respondent submits that the application submitted by the petitioner seeking power connection to his residential premises shall be considered in accordance with law. 5. Having regard to the nature of the direction sought in the writ petition, and noting that the application was filed on 18.12.2025 and has remained unattended despite completion of all procedural requirements, this Court is of the opinion that electricity supply, being a basic necessity for a citizen, warrants appropriate directions.
