ORDER:
The Writ Petition has been filed for the following relief:
“…to issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction declaring that the action of Respondent No s. 4 and 5 herein interfering with civil disputes pertaining to money transactions and thereby forcing the Petitioner herein to settle the dispute with Respondent No s.5 and 6 by withdrawing the Crime No. 216 of 2025 pending on the file of the 4th Respondent, failing which threatened to lodge false criminal cases, as illegal, arbitrary, without jurisdiction, besides violating Petitioners rights guaranteed under Article 14, 19(1)(g), 300-A of the Constitution of India and consequently direct Respondent No s.4 and 5 herein not to interfere with the civil disputes by forcing the Petitioner herein to withdraw Crime No. 216 of 2025 pending on the file of the 4th Respondent and to pass…”
2. Heard learned counsel for the Petitioner and the learned Assistant Government Pleader.
3. Mr. S.V.S.S. Sivaram, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that respondent No. 4 police have been interfering with civil disputes pertaining to money transactions and are thereby forcing the petitioner to settle the dispute with respondent Nos. 5 and 6 by withdrawing Crime No. 216 of 2025 pending on the file of respondent No. 4 Police Station.
4. Sri P. Ajay Babu, learned Assistant Government Pleader, on written instructions, submits that respondent No. 5 has submitted a complaint, which was registered as a case in Crime No. 272 of 2026 for the offences punishable under Sections 409, 420, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (for brevity, “the I.P.C.”) by respondent No. 4. In that regard, the petitioner was

called to the police station. The police never threatened the petitioner to withdraw the case in Crime No. 216 of 2025. The police did not interfere in the civil dispute between the parties, and they never called the petitioners to the police station nor subjected them to any harassment.
5. Indeed, the police have no role or authority in threatening or coercing any person to withdraw a complaint against a third party.
6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, recording the
submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and recording the
submissions of the learned Assistant Government Pleader, the Writ Petition is
disposed of, directing the to respondent No. 4 not to pressurize, coerce, or interfere henceforth in the civil dispute pending in O.S. No. 166 of 2025 on the file of the Principal Junior Civil Judge, Ponganur, without following due process of law.
7. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. As a sequel, miscellaneous petitions pending, if any, shall stand closed.
