JUDGMENT AND ORDER (ORAL)
1. This application has been filed by the applicant (Sordar of Shnat Raid Nongskhen, Khyrim Syiemship) for clarification of the
Judgment and Order dated 25.02.2026 passed in WP(C) No. 78 of 2026, 2026:MLHC:134
inasmuch as, though status quo orders have been passed with regard to the administration of Shnat Raid Nongskhen, in view of the fact that the matter has been seized by the Executive Committee, a certain Ms. B. Mylliem, Advocate under the instructions of her colleague had sent a letter to the applicant dated 26.02.2026, instructing the applicant to not exercise or discharge any functions in view of the Court’s order of status quo.
2. It is not understood under what circumstances this letter was sent to the applicant, inasmuch as, a plain reading of the order 25.02.2026, would indicate that the Court had acknowledged and recorded that a stay
order passed by the Executive Committee was operating on the suspension of the applicant, which would categorically imply that he would still remain in office. The letter dated 26.02.2026, issued by the said Advocate therefore, is contemptuous in nature.
3. Mr. K.V. Kharlyngdoh, learned counsel for the respondents No. 5 to 9, submits that the same was due to inadvertence and it will be withdrawn immediately, with proper intimation to the applicant.
4. Accordingly, in consideration of the submission made by Mr. K.V. Kharlyngdoh, learned counsel for the respondents No. 5 to 9, the matter stands closed and disposed of. JUDGE Meghalaya 02.03.2026
