ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents, particularly, the second respondent viz., the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, Vyasarpadi, Chennai-600 039 to provide alternative residential accommodation, who are similarly placed like 140 persons, who were now allotted alternative accommodation as informed before this Court in the above Writ Petitions, who were earlier displaced from Pulianthope and presently, residing at Vyasarpadi, before evicting them from their present place of residence, in accordance with law and in terms of the assurance earlier given by the respondents. 2. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the present Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself. 3. In view of the order proposed to be passed in this Writ Petition, WMP.No.11876 of 2026 filed by the petitioners to permit them to join together and file a Single Writ Petition is allowed, subject to payment of a Single Court fee. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

It is the case of the petitioners that they are the slum dwellers of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) of Pulianthope, Chennai and on the assurance given by the Board to reallot them the residential flats in future in the same locality after completion of construction, they vacated the said premises and temporarily shifted to Vyasarpadi and thereafter, the respondents accommodated them in the present location near to cremation ground and further assured to allot them the residential flats at Kathivakkam, Ennore. However, the respondents without providing any alternative accommodation initiated steps to evict them from the present location for which they filed petitions along with similarly placed persons before this Court in W.P.No.6037 of 2024 and etc., and during the hearing of those cases, the respondents informed before this Court that they will allot them housing at alternative sites and pursuant to the said order, the respondents allotted housing to 140 families in alternative sites, however, the petitioners herein are not allotted any alternative residents but they are trying to evict them from the present location by dumping waste materials near to their residence and hence, the present Writ Petition. 5.
5. In view of the limited prayer sought for by the petitioners in this Writ Petition, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to consider the case of the petitioners and to pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

order.
