17.04.2026 Court No.28 Item No.67 tbsr Reject CRM (A) 844 of 2026 In Re: - An application for anticipatory bail under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 in connection with Dantan P.S. Case No.175 of 2025 dated 09.07.2025 under Sections 85/103/80/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 Charge sheet submitted under Section 85/80/108/3(5) of the BNS, 2023 and Section 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. And In the matter of: Rina pattanayak ….Petitioner. Mr. Arup Kumar Bhowmik
…for the petitioner.
Mr. Saibal Bapuli, ld. APP Ms. Rituparna Saha
…..for the State.
Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the mother-in-law of the alleged victim. The incident of suicide took place within two months of the marriage. The husband and the father-in-law were arrested and were thereafter granted bail. Charge sheet has been submitted.
Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State strongly opposes the prayer for anticipatory bail. He refers to the FIR, the statement of the victim’s mother recorded before the learned Magistrate and the statements of neighbours.
Considering the above and the other incriminating materials available in the case diary, I am not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.
The application for anticipatory bail is, thus, rejected.
