BEFORE HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE NELSON SAILO O R D E R 06.02.2026 Heard Mr. H. Talukdar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Ms. K. Phukan, learned Government Advocate. Having regard to the projection made by the petitioner, the writ petition is taken up for disposal at this stage itself.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that the father of the petitioner died in harness on 06.08.2016 and the petitioner therefore applied for appointment on compassionate basis before the competent authority. The District Level Committee, Sonitpur, which held its meeting on 08.12.2023, recommended the petitioner for appointment on compassionate basis against a Grade-IV post and the same was forwarded to the State Level Committee (in short SLC) through the Secretary to the Government of Assam, Department of School Education by the District Elementary Education Officer, Sonitpur on 22.10.2024. Despite the same, as the matter has not been placed before the SLC, the petitioner is before this Court.
3. Ms. K. Phukan, learned State Counsel submits that since the District level Committee has made its recommendation and the matter sent to the
Page No.# 3/3 SLC through the Secretary to the Government of Assam, Department of School Education, Court may pass necessary orders as deem fit and proper.
4. Considering the materials available on record and upon hearing the
learned counsel for the parties, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent authorities, more particularly respondent Nos. 1 and 2 to place the case of the petitioner before the next SLC meeting for considering his case for compassionate appointment in accordance with the relevant scheme.
5. With the above observations and direction, the writ petition stands
disposed of.
