Mr. Anirban Chakraborty ..for the petitioners Affidavit of service filed by the petitioner is taken on record. None appears on behalf of the State despite service. The husband of the 1st petitioner was appointed as Gram Panchayat Karmee of Brajarajpur Gram Panchayat. The husband of the 1st petitioner died in harness on August 22, 2018 leaving his wife, being the 1st petitioner herein and son, being the 2nd petitioner herein. Despite completing all pension related formalities within due time the pension payment order was issued by the concerned authority on December 31, 2019. The gratuity amount were paid to the petitioners on January 31, 2020 and arrear pension were disbursed in favour of the 1st petitioner on January 31, 2020. The petitioners have prayed for interest on the gratuity and arrear pension amount due to delay in disbursal of the same. Upon consideration of the submission made on behalf of the parties and material on record, the Director of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance, Government of West Bengal and the Treasury Officer, Khatra, being the 4th and 5th respondents herein, are directed to pay interest to the petitioners @8% per annum on the gratuity and arrear pension amount calculated from August 23, 2018 till the date of actual payment. Such payment be made within two months from the date of communication of this order. With the above observation and direction, this writ petition is disposed of. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
