In the present case, an anomaly arose regarding the date of submission of the charge-sheet before the competent Court. 3. On the previous date, i.e., 23.07.2026, learned State Counsel, on the basis of instructions received, submitted that the charge-sheet had been filed before the competent Court on 14.07.2026. However, learned counsel for the petitioner placed on record a copy of the questionnaire dated 15.07.2026, wherein it was stated that the charge- sheet in FIR No. 582 of 2025 had not been filed before the Court till that date. 4. Accordingly, this Court directed the District Judge, Dehradun to verify the factual position from the records of the concerned Court and submit a report indicating the actual date on which the charge-sheet was presented before the competent Court. 5. As per the report dated 30.07.2026 submitted by the District Judge, Dehradun, it is revealed that the charge- sheet was presented before the Court of the Ist Additional Chief Judicial UKHC010038772026 2026:UHC:6690 Magistrate, Dehradun on 23.07.2026, and the concerned Court took cognizance on 26.07.2026. It is further reported that the Investigating Officer had not submitted the charge-sheet before the concerned Court on 14.07.2026. 6. Learned State Counsel submitted that, due to an inadvertent error in the instructions furnished to him, it was stated that the charge-sheet had been filed before the Court on 14.07.2026, whereas, in fact, the Investigating Officer had submitted the charge-sheet before the Prosecution Office on 14.07.2026 for its presentation before the competent Court. 7. Learned State Counsel is directed to communicate to the Deputy Director of Prosecution that the instructions furnished to the State must be clear and specific regarding the stage of submission of the charge-sheet. The instructions should clearly indicate whether the charge-sheet has been submitted before the Prosecution Office or filed before the competent Court, and whether cognizance has been taken by the concerned Court. 8. Since the charge-sheet has already been filed before the competent Court and cognizance has been taken, the present Criminal Writ Petition has become infructuous and is, accordingly, disposed of.
