Petitioner is the widow of late Gulzar Ahmad who died in harness on 10.03.2026 while working on the post of Instructor (Welder) in Govt. ITI, Nandasain, District Chamoli. The deceased government servant was survived by a daughter named Mahira. Petitioner moved an application to respondent no.2 seeking compassionate appointment, copy of which was given to the Secretary, Personnel & Pension Department as also the Principal of the institution on 18.04.2026. 4. It is contended by learned Counsel for petitioner that petitioner is under severe financial crunch due to untimely demise of her husband with whom she was not under cordial relation and maintenance was being paid to her which too has been scrapped. 5. Petitioner has come up before this Court seeking a direction to direct the respondents to consider the claim of petitioner on compassionate grounds; and further to release the retiral dues of deceased government servant. 6. Learned Counsel for petitioner submits that at UKHC010134052026 2026:UHC:6710 this stage, he is not pressing the relief prayed for payment of retiral dues, however, he will press the first prayer wherein he has sought a direction for consideration of her application for appointment on compassionate grounds. 7. Learned Counsel for petitioner submits that if a direction is issued by this Court to take a decision on the application of petitioner for compassionate appointment in a time bound manner, ends of justice would be met. 8. Learned Counsel for the State has no objection if such a direction is issued by this Court. 9. Accordingly, present writ petition is disposed of. Respondent no.2-Director, Directorate of Training and Employment, Uttarakhand, Dehradun is directed to decide the application of petitioner dated 10.04.2026 (Annexure No.5 to the petition) seeking compassionate appointment within a period of two months from the date of production of a certified copy of this order in accordance with the U.P. Recruitment of Dependants of Govt. Servants Dying in Harness Rules, 1974. 10.
