02.04.2026 IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA Item No.96 CRIMINAL MISCELLANEOUS JURISDICTION Ct.No.35 dc. Rejected C.R.M. (NDPS) 573 of 2026 In Re : An Application for bail under Section 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 filed in connection with Cokeoven Police Station Case No. 90 of 2025 dated 05.07.2025 under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. And In Re : Usha Mondal ... Petitioner. Ms. Sreemoyee Mukherjee ... For the Petitioner. Mr. Saptarshi Chakraborty ... For the State. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that there was alleged recovery of 37 kgs. of Ganja from five persons including the present petitioner; charge-sheet has already been submitted and the petitioner is in custody for about nine months. As such, petitioner may be granted bail on any stringent condition. Learned advocate appearing for the State, on the other hand, opposes the prayer for bail and submits that the quantity of contraband seized is of commercial quantity. Having considered the quantum of recovery, at this stage, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. As such, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected. Petitioner would renew her prayer for bail after the evidence of seizure list witnesses is over. 2 The application for bail, being CRM (NDPS) 573 of 2026, is, thus, dismissed. All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
