No. Date Office Notes, reports, orders or proceedings or directions and Registrar’s order with Signatures COURT’S OR JUDGE’S ORDERS WPMS/2223/2026 Mayank Singh --Petitioner Versus Union of India and others --Respondents Hon’ble Manoj Kumar Tiwari, J. Mr. P.S. Dhami, Advocate for the petitioner. Mr. Atul Bhatt, Standing Counsel for the Union of India. 2. By means of this writ petition, petitioner has sought following relief: “a. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to consider and decide the petitioner’s request/application for correction of the date of birth in the Aadhaar records and to correct the petitioner’s date of birth from 15.06.2006 to 15.07.2006, in accordance with the High School Certificate/Marksheet and other supporting documents, within a time frame to be fixed by this Hon’ble Court.” 3. In sum and substance, petitioner wants correction of his date of birth in his Aadhaar Card. According to him, his actual date of birth is 15.07.2006; however, his date of UKHC010129352026 2026:UHC:6442 birth is wrongly recorded as 15.06.2006, in the Aadhaar Card. He further submits that petitioner has made an application for correcting his date of birth, but no decision is being taken thereupon. 4. Mr. Atul Bhatt, Standing Counsel appearing for Union of India, however, submits that as per applicable rules, correction of date of birth is permissible only once in the Aadhaar Card. He submits that originally petitioner’s date of birth was recorded as 15.06.2005 which was corrected on his request as 15.06.2006. He submits that now petitioner again wants to change the month of entry made in the Aadhaar Card and he now wants his date of birth to be recorded as 15.07.2006. 5. He submits that for seeking correction second time, petitioner will have to follow the SOP issued on 24.12.2025. He submits that petitioner will have to submit his birth certificate along with his affidavit which is prepared in terms of the SOP. 6. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that even though petitioner has submitted birth certificate and also an UKHC010129352026 2026:UHC:6442 affidavit in terms of SOP but he will do the needful again. 7. The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of with liberty to petitioner to furnish all documents, including birth certificate and affidavit in terms of SOP to respondent No. 3. If he submit all necessary documents and makes formal request for correcting his date of birth, respondent No. 3 shall take decision on his request, as per law, within eight weeks.
