JUSTICE INDERJEET SINGH Order 30/06/2026 This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner with the following prayers:- It is therefore, most respectfully prayed that your Lordships may be pleased to allow this writ petition and may further be pleased:- (1) to direct the respondent to con sider the candidature of petitioner for notional promotion on the post of Assistant Secretary with effect from 1.1.1998 and to grant him such promotion if found suitable from the said date with all consequential service benefits; (ii) to direct the respondent to pay the petitioner all arrears of salary, retiral benefits and pension arising in consequence of the promotion of petitioner on the post of Assistant Secretary with effect from 1.1.1998; (iii) to direct the respondents to also pay interest at the rate of 18% per annum on the arrears w.e.f. due dates; (iv) to issue any other writ /order/direction or declaration which this Hon'ble Court [2026:RJ-JP:23829] (2 of 2) [CW-4719/2002] deems just fit and proper may kindly be also passed in favour of the petitioner; (v) to allow the cost of this writ petition.” At the time of filing of the writ petition in the year 2002, the age of the petitioner was 60 years. I have perused the record. The matter relates to grant of promotion. In my considered view, by efflux of time, the present writ petition has become infructuous.
