Records would reveal that this writ petition has been filed complaining failure on the part of the municipal authorities to disburse the retiral benefits in favour of the petitioner. 2. When the matter was taken up for consideration on 24th February, 2026, this Court noting that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) has already been issued in favour of the petitioner, was pleased to pass the following order; “1. Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today is taken on record. 2. The writ petition has been filed complaining failure on the part of the municipal authorities to disburse the retiral benefits in favour of the petitioner. The petitioner has complained that despite Pension Payment Order WPA 22724 of 2025 2 (PPO) having been issued on 1st September, 2023, the gratuity and arrear pension as determined have not been disbursed. 3. Ms. Dey, the learned advocate for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is only being favoured with the regular pension. 4. Having regard thereto, since the municipality is not represented, let this matter stand over and appear under the same heading on March 17, 2026. 5. The respondent no.3, being the Chairman, Purulia Municipality is directed to file a report when the matter is taken up next. 6. The petitioner is directed to communicate this order to the non-appearing respondents and file an affidavit of service on the returnable date.” 3. Despite the aforesaid direction, though the municipality is represented in Court, it has not bothered to file the report. 4. The learned advocate for the municipality would, however, submit that the municipality is ready and willing to make such payment of the entire amount of retiral dues including gratuity to the extent of Rs.5,37,208/- and the arrear pension, including the current pension. 5. Having regard thereto, I am of the view that no fruitful purpose will be served in retaining the matter in the file. Accordingly, the matter is disposed of by directing the municipality to make the payment of the gratuity and arrear pension to the petitioner within a period of 4 weeks from the date of communication of this order. The outstanding amount of gratuity shall carry interest @ 10% per annum calculated from the date when the petitioner had retired from service till such time the same is actually paid. 7. The aforesaid amount shall be disbursed in favour of the petitioner along with a computation, including the amount paid and the interest. The petitioner shall also be disbursed the other retiral benefits within the time directed hereinabove. 8. With the above observations and directions, the instant writ petition stands disposed of. 9.
