Mr. Vikas Pandey, learned counsel for the petitioner is connected virtually. 2. Mr. N.S. Pundir, learned Deputy Advocate General for the State of Uttarakhand. 3. Petitioner’s father was a Government Servant, who died while in harness in 2010. Petitioner applied for compassionate appointment. Her request was turned down by the Competent Authority by an order passed on 30.05.2013. 4. Petitioner contends that District Magistrate thereafter requested the State Government to reconsider petitioner’s claim for compassionate appointment. 5. By means of this writ petition, petitioner has sought the following reliefs:- (i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider/reconsider the case of the petitioner for compassionate appointment on a suitable post according to her qualification under the Dying in Harness Rules, 1974. UKHC010130922026 2026:UHC:6510 (ii) Issue a writ or order quashing the order dated 30.05.2013 (Annexure no. 7) to this writ petition (Page No. 23). 6. Learned State Counsel is right in submitting that as per Rules, the outer limit for making application for compassionate appointment is five years from the date of death. In the present case, sixteen years have gone by thus, the pressing need, which was there at the time of death of the sole bread earner, has also vanished. 7. In such view of the matter, this Court does not find any reason to entertain this writ petition at this belated stage. 8. Accordingly, the writ petition fails and is dismissed.
