1. Mr. Tajhar Qayyum, learned counsel for the petitioner.
2. Mr. Ghanshyam Joshi, learned Additional C.S.C. for the State of Uttarakhand.
3. According to petitioner, he is a peace-loving person, without any criminal antecedent. According to him, an arm licence was issued to him, which expired on
24.12.2025. Petitioner contends that he applied for renewal of arm licence by making an application on 10.12.2025, which is still pending before District Magistrate.
4. Learned State Counsel submits that report has to be called from Local Police, and also from Local Intelligence Unit, if need be, therefore, time appears to have been spent in getting the report.
5. The writ petition is, accordingly,
disposed of with a direction to District Magistrate to take decision on petitioner’s application, one way or the other, within three months from the date of presentation of certified copy of this

order. It shall be open District Magistrate to call report, from the police / LIU, in
order to form an opinion that petitioner does not have any criminal antecedent or he will not misuse the firearm for causing breach of peace.
