24.02.2026 Item No.15 Ct. No.1 PG WP.CT. 44 of 2026 Union of India & Ors. Versus Mr. Tarun Kumar Purakayastha, Sr. Accounts Officer Mr. Sukanta Chakraborty Mr. Sukanta Ghosh …………for the petitioners PER, SUJOY PAUL, CJ.: 1. Learned counsel for petitioners submits that O.A. No. 339 of 2020 is filed by respondent employee before the tribunal against the disciplinary proceeding. The tribunal has granted an interim order in favour of the employee. The respondent employee himself filed WP.CT. 7 of 2024 before this Court against a proceeding order of tribunal dated 18.12.2023. This Court disposed of said WP.CT. by order dated 18.01.2024 by requesting the tribunal to dispose of the O.A. as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. 2 2. Learned counsel for petitioners by taking this Court to the various order sheets submitted that the matter was adjourned on several occasions and now it will be listed on 08.04.2026. The only prayer made is to direct the tribunal to hear the matter expeditiously, preferably on the next date of hearing. 3. Ordinarily, we would have put the respondent to notice but since in the instant case it is pointed out that in respondent’s petition WP.CT. 7 of 2024 decided on 18.01.2024, a direction was already issued to decide the matter expeditiously, we deem it proper to dispose of this petition without notice to the other side by requesting the tribunal to decide the pending O.A. expeditiously and preferably hear it on 08.04.2026 on priority basis. 4. The Registry of this Court shall communicate this order to the tribunal within seven working days. 3 5. With aforesaid and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the petition is disposed of. 6. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties expeditiously upon compliance of all legal formalities. (SUJOY PAUL, CJ.) (PARTHA SARATHI SEN, J.)
