This writ petition has been filed for the grant of following substantive reliefs:- 2 2026:HHC:17406 “(a) An appropriate writ, order or direction may kindly be issued for quashing and setting aside the impugned order/action(Annexure P-5) of Respondent No. 3 whereby the nomination of the petitioner for the office of Ward Member from Ward No. 1 of Gram Panchayat Sillagharat have been illegally rejected. (b) Appropriate writ, order or direction may kindly be issued to directing the respondents to accept and treat the nomination papers of the petitioner as valid and to permit the petitioner to contest the election for the office of Ward Member from ward No. 1 of Gram Panchayat Sillagharat. (c) Appropriate writ, order or direction may kindly be issued to directing the respondents to allot election symbol to the petitioner and permit her participation in the ensuing election process in accordance with law.” 3. Petitioner had filed her nomination on 11.05.2026 for contesting election of Ward Member from Gram Panchayat Sillagharat. The said seat was reserved for Scheduled Caste category. Petitioner asserts herself to belonging to Scheduled Caste category. Petitioner’s nomination has been rejected on 13.05.2026. Petitioner furnished a representation alongwith her affidavit to Deputy Commission-cum-District Election Officer, Chamba – respondent No. 2 stating therein that her name in the voter list on account of clerical mistake has been mentioned as Sheela Devi, whereas, her name is Seeta Devi. Petitioner’s grievance is that 3 2026:HHC:17406 without taking any action on her representation, respondent No. 2 forwarded the same to Returning Officer – respondent No. 3 who rejected petitioner’s nomination on the said ground. When the matter was taken up in the morning session, learned counsel for State Election Commission – respondent No. 1 was directed to have instructions. The matter was taken again post-lunch session. Learned counsel for respondent No. 2 placed on record document and on that basis submitted that relief prayed for by the petitioner stands granted in her favour. Petitioner’s name has been entered as Sheela Devi alias Seeta Devi and election symbol has also been allotted to her in today’s date. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that document now placed on record by respondent No. 1 has redressed the grievance of the petitioner.
