The petitioner in this writ petition has prayed for direction upon the respondents to pay statutory interest as per the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 for delayed period of payment to the awardees/petitioners in connection with the Land Acquisition Case No.16/2007-08, for which collector awards u/s 28A of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 2026:JHHC:11468 2 have been prepared by the Special Land Acquisition Officer, Hazaribag on the basis of Judgment passed by the Lower Court u/s 18 of the Act on 28.06.2018, however, payment of compensation was made to the petitioners on 30.04.2024 calculating the up to date interest only till 28.06.2018 and for rest of the period the Special Land Acquisition Officer, Tenughat Project, Hazaribag sent a letter vide letter No.171 dated 02.07.2025 to the Executive Engineer, Waterways Sub-Division, Barhi for allotment of fund for payment of interest amount to the 15 awardees including the petitioners related to the L.A. Case No.16/2007-08 as per the statutory provision provided in the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. 3. The only grievance of the petitioner that though the enhanced compensation has been paid to the petitioner, but the interest amount of the delayed payment has not been paid. 4. Considering the submission, I direct the petitioner to approach to the Special Land Acquission Officer, Hazaribagh within three weeks from today and on receipt of the said representation, the authority will calculate and disburse the same to the petitioner within a period of six weeks thereafter. 5.
