The short grievance of the petitioners is that their application for obtaining a bar licence has been kept pending by the respondent-authorities since long. 2. The backdrop of the case is that the premises was initially rented out by one T. Kannan to a third party to the litigation, who had obtained a bar license, and upon the third party having left the premises, the said premises was let out to the present petitioner. The present petitioner thereafter obtained similar licence. However, later on, T. Kannan wanted to run the bar himself and accordingly obtained such a licence in his name. Thereafter, T. Kannan’s license was cancelled on the ground that he was convicted of an offence, upon which the petitioner returned to the premises and made a further application for obtaining bar license. It is the said application which has now been kept pending. 3. Upon hearing learned counsel for the parties, WPA/145/2026 is disposed of by directing the respondent- 2 authorities to consider and dispose of the application for bar license of the petitioner in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a month from date 4. There will be no order as to costs. 5. Urgent Photostat certified copies of this judgment, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
