For Petitioner : Mr.B.Balaji For Respondent : Mr.R.Balaji Standing Counsel 1/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No.7826 of 2026 ORDER The writ petition has been filed to issue a mandamus to the respondent to sanction and disburse interest at 12% per annum on the delayed payment of EPF, EGF and Leave Surrender for the period from 28.02.2023 till October 2025. 2. The case of the petitioner is that he was employed as a SPG Conductor in the respondent-Transport Corporation. He had rendered 28 years of unblemished service and retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation on 28.02.2023. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioner only in the month of October 2024 and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation to the respondent dated 02.02.2025, to pay the interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. 3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount. 4. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6. In the result, the writ petition is disposed of.
