Also heard Mr. M P Goswami, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the State of Assam. 2. This is an application under Section 483 of the BNSS, 2023 in respect of Silchar P.S. Case No.107/2026 praying for grant of bail to the petitioner Rupak Das. 3. A group of people have detained the present petitioner on suspicion of carrying contraband drugs. Intermediate quantity of narcotic drugs was found in his possession. Page No.# 2/2 4. Mr. Biswas has submitted that the petitioner was a consumer of drugs. 5. Mr. Goswami has objected to this bail application on the ground that the narcotic drugs was recovered from the conscious possession of the petitioner. 6. The petitioner has already completed 135 days in judicial custody. 7. From the materials available in the record, this Court is of the opinion that the petitioner no longer deserves to be detained in custody. Therefore, his bail application is allowed. 8. It is hereby directed that the petitioner Rupak Das, who was arrested in connection with Silchar P.S. Case No.107/2026, shall be released on bail of ₹25,000/- with a surety of like amount to the satisfaction of the learned Special Judge (NDPS), Cachar, Silchar.
