1. The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking following reliefs:-
“10.1 That, this Hon'ble Court may kindly be pleased to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to grant promotion to the Petitioner to the post of assistant Accountant Officer, with all consequential benefits, including arrears of salary and seniority. 10.2 That, this Hon'ble Court may kindly be pleased to issue an appropriate writ directing the respondents to promote the petitioner to Assistant Accountant Officer from the date the vacancy arose.
2 10.3 That, this Hon'ble Court may kindly be pleased to grant any other relief/relief’s in favour of the petitioner, which the Hon’ble Court deemed fit & just in the facts and circumstances of the case, including awarding of the costs to the petitioner.”
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is initially appointed on the post of Assistant Grade – III on 10.05.1990. Petitioner is thereafter promoted on the post of Cashier on 23.02.2008 and since then, he is working on the post of Cashier. Petitioner after completion of the requisite period of service, became eligible for promotion on the post of Accountant, however till date, no proceeding has been initiated for
consideration of the candidature of petitioner for promotion. He has submitted representations before the Respondent No. 2 (Annexure P/6) and therefore, direction be issued to the Respondent No. 2 to consider and take decision on the representations submitted by the petitioner at the earliest within specified time frame.

On the other hand, learned counsel for the Respondent No. 2 submits that as petitioner is not pressing this writ petition on merits and is only seeking a direction to Respondent No. 2 to consider and take decision on the representations (Annexure P/6) submitted by the petitioner, he is having no objection to the limited prayer. He submits that if the representations are still pending consideration, it will be considered and decided in accordance with law.
4. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the documents placed on record.
5. On due consideration of the submission of counsel for the respective parties, facts and circumstances of the case, nature of grievance raised by the petitioner, without entering into the merits of the case, this writ petition at this stage is disposed of directing the Respondent No. 2 to consider and take decision on the representations (Annexure P/6) submitted by the petitioner on its own merits in accordance with law,
3 expeditiously, preferably within a period of 04 months from the date of receipt of representation.
6. With the aforesaid observation and direction, this writ petition stands
