THE STATE OF WEST BENGAL & ORS.
For the petitioners
: Mr. Gouranga Kumar Das
For the respondent/State : Mr. Sk. Md. Galib, Sr. Govt. Adv.

Heard on

Judgment on
: March 30, 2026.
Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, J.:
1. Affidavit of service filed today be kept with the record.
2. Upon hearing learned counsel for the parties, we find that the transfer application in question, bearing T.A. 824/2000 (LRTT), is pending before the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal since the year 2000. The genesis of the said application was a writ petition, pursuant to which Civil Rule No.377(W) of 1980
2 was issued by this Court. Subsequently, due to formation of the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal, the matter was transferred thereto.
3. We find from the copy of the order annexed hereto that by the last
order dated July 17, 2025, the Tribunal has adjourned the matter to May 12, 2026. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that long dates are being fixed by the Tribunal, which is further delaying the matter.
4. In view of the long pendency of the matter, we are of the opinion that the matter should be disposed of expeditiously.
5. Accordingly, WPLRT 40 of 2026 is disposed of by requesting the Second Bench, West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal to dispose of T. A. 824/2000(LRTT) as expeditiously as possible, positively by the end of this year, without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
6. The parties and all concerned, including the learned Tribunal, shall act on the basis of a server copy of this judgment, duly downloaded from the official website of this Court, without insisting upon prior production of a certified copy thereof for the purpose of compliance.

7. There will be no order as to costs.
8. Urgent certified photostat copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously after complying with all requisite formalities.
I agree.
