The applicant/petitioner seeks a direction upon the State to submit a police report which, according to the learned counsel, was in possession of the learned counsel appearing for the State when the writ petition was disposed of. It appears that the writ petition was disposed of by an order passed on February 27, 2026. No police report was submitted before this Court on that date. There is also no reflection in the order that the learned counsel for the State placed reliance on the police report in making his submission. In absence of any police report being submitted before this Court, the question of submission of such report does not arise. Moreover, since the writ petition has already been disposed of, this Court has 2 become functus officio and no further order can be passed in connection therewith. In view of the above, this Court is inclined to hold that the application being CAN 1 of 2026 is devoid of merit and is accordingly dismissed. There shall however, be no order as to costs.
