Sardar ..for the petitioners Mr. Tapas Kumar Mondal Mr. Partha Sarathi Basu ..for South 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that the South 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad issued a work order in favour of the petitioners for sinking four submersible tubewells with overhead tanks and soak pit drains at the following locations: (i) near the residence of Abdul Ohab Jamadar, Plot No. 1480, Khatian No. 536, Mouza–Ramchandrakhali; (ii) near Sajinatala Boro Masjid, Mouza–Sajinatala, Plot No. 237; (iii) near Naya Bazar, Mouza–Sonakhali, Plot No. 938, Khatian No. 4510; and (iv) near Bishalaxmi Mandir Ground, Mouza–Radharanipur, Plot No. 906, Khatian No. 722, Nafarganj, under Basanti Police Station, by a memorandum dated March 3, 2025. The value of the said work order was ₹11,92,961/-. Although the petitioners have successfully completed the work in terms of the work order, no payment has been released to them by the Zilla Parishad. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the South 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad submits that an inspection 2 may be conducted, and if it is found that the petitioners have duly executed the work order, the payment may be released. In view of the aforesaid, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the South 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad to cause an inspection to be conducted within a period of two weeks from the date of communication of this order. Upon completion of the inspection, if the Zilla Parishad finds that the petitioners have successfully executed the work in terms of the work order, the legitimate dues of the petitioners shall be released within a period of one month from the date of communication of this order. Accordingly, WPA 26486 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
