Mr. Prabhat Kandpal, Mr. Akshay Latwal, learned A.G.A. along with Mr. Nikhil Bisht, learned Brief Holder for the State of Uttarakhand. 2. The petitioners have approached this Court seeking the following relief: "i. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus commanding respondent nos. 2 and 3 to provide adequate protection to the petitioners, as guaranteed under the Constitution of India, and to ensure that they are not harassed, by providing necessary police protection against respondent nos. 4 and 5." 3. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are majors and are residing together in a live-in relationship. It is further submitted that they apprehend a threat to their life and personal liberty from respondent nos. 4 and 5, who are the father and brother of petitioner no. 1. Accordingly, they seek appropriate directions for protection of their life and personal liberty. 4. Having heard learned counsel for the parties and upon consideration of the material available on record, this Court, in the light of the law laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in Lata Singh v. State of U.P. and Another, is of the prima facie view that the petitioners have made out a case for protection of their life and personal liberty guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. 5. Accordingly, the Station House Officer, Police Station Gangnahar, District Haridwar, is UKHC010119392026 2026:UHC:5610 directed to assess the threat perception, if any, to the life and personal liberty of the petitioners. In the event any genuine threat is found to exist, adequate protection shall be provided to the petitioners strictly in accordance with law. The Station House Officer shall also summon respondent nos. 4 and 5, as well as any other person found to be interfering with or threatening the petitioners, and counsel them to maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. 6.
