Longkumer, the learned counsel for the PIL petitioners; Mr. Z.N. Ngullie, learned Central Government Counsel for the respondent no. 1, Union of India; Ms. Longtsubeni T. Humtsoe, learned counsel on behalf of respondent no. 2; Mr. A. Chetri, learned counsel for respondent no. 3 and Mr. Imti Imsong, learned Additional Advocate General, Nagaland for the respondent no. 4. 2. The 3 (three) petitioners, who are LLB Graduates and are practicing advocates, have joined together to file the instant PIL seeking inter alia a direction to the respondent no. 2, i.e., the Bar Council of India (BCI) to establish a permanent examination centre for All India Bar Examination (AIBE) in the State of Nagaland for all the upcoming examinations henceforth. A direction was also sought for establishment of an Page No.# 3/4 examination centre in the State of Nagaland preferably in Kohima/Dimapur, before the next AIBE (XXI) – 2026, which was scheduled on 07.06.2026. 3. Notices were issued to the respondents on 22.04.2026. 4. It has been submitted by the learned counsels for the parties today that an examination centre was made available at Genesis School, Ward No. 12, Chandmari Upper Ward, Kohima Urban, Kohima-797001 for the AIBE – 2026, scheduled on 07.06.2026. In the said examination, a total of 56 numbers of candidates appeared. 5. In the PIL, the respondent no. 2 has also filed an affidavit wherein in paragraph no. 23, it has stated as under: “23. That on the issue of establishing a permanent All India Bar Examination centre in the State of Nagaland it is submitted that a permanent AIBE Centre shall be made available for the candidates in the State of Nagaland from next AIBE onwards.” 6. From the afore-quoted statement made in the preceeding paragraph, it is noticed that the respondent no. 2 has undertaken to make a permanent centre for AIBE available in the State of Nagaland from the next AIBE onwards. 7. In view of the above facts and circumstances, it is noticed that the immediate relief sought for by the PIL petitioners regarding an examination centre in the State of Nagaland for the AIBE - 2026 has already been redressed. The respondent no. 2 has also undertaken to Page No.# 4/4 make a permanent center for AIBE available in the State of Nagaland from the next AIBE onwards. 8. On a query to the learned counsels for the parties, the learned counsels have submitted that in view of the above developments, the PIL can be disposed of. It is accordingly disposed of.
