DATE : 10.09.2026 At the outset, Ms. Kabra, learned counsel for the petitioner, seeks leave of this Court to carry out the necessary correction in prayer clause (i) pertaining to the number of the writ petition referred to therein. 2. Permission is granted. Necessary amendment be carried out forthwith. 3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner. 4. The petitioner seeks a direction to respondent No.1 – Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Amravati, to decide the statutory appeal filed by the petitioner. The contention is that the application submitted by the petitioner to the Sub-Divisional Officer, Akot, i.e. respondent No.2, for grant of a caste certificate in respect of ‘Koli Mahadeo’ Scheduled Tribe was rejected on 05.01.2026. Against such rejection, the petitioner has approached respondent No.1 – 2026:BHC-NAG:12054-DB 102.WP.5794.2026 2/3 Committee by filing the statutory appeal under the Maharashtra Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, De-notified Tribes (Vimukta Jatis), Nomadic Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Special Backward Category (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of) Caste Certificate Act, 2000 and the Maharashtra Scheduled Tribes (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of) Certificate Rules, 2003 on 27th January, 2026. 5. Since then, the aforesaid appeal is pending. Learned counsel for the petitioner invited our attention to the notice of hearing dated 12th March, 2026, which is at record page No.19 (Annexure-2), which substantiates the aforesaid facts. In view of the fact that the aforesaid appeal is not yet decided even after passage of eight months, the petitioner has approached this Court. 6. Mr. Doifode, learned Additional Government Pleader, upon instructions, submits that the aforesaid appeal shall be decided by respondent No.1 within a period of four weeks from today. 7. In view of the above, we dispose of the present writ petition with a direction to respondent No.1 – Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Amravati, to decide the appeal referred above within a period of four weeks from today. 8. Needless to mention that respondent No.1 – Committee shall decide the appeal on its own merits and in accordance with law and, more specifically, in the light of the judgment 102.WP.5794.2026 3/3 passed by this Court in Writ Petition No. 1991 of 2026. The petitioner shall submit a copy of the aforesaid judgment before respondent No.1 for its consideration. 9. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. No costs. (RAJ D. WAKODE, J.)
