Ganguly … for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody since 5th May, 2025 and has been implicated on the accusation of alleged recovery of 403 gm of heroin. It has also been submitted that till date five witnesses including the independent witness have been examined and six more witnesses are to be examined by the prosecution. Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that the quantum of seizure is of commercial quantity and the prosecution’s case is presently proceeding according to its expectations. 2 Having considered that the prosecution should be afforded more time, I direct that the prosecution witnesses be completed within a period of six month from the next date fixed. However, having considered the stage of the case, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail at this stage. Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected. Accordingly, CRM(NDPS) 446 of 2026 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of.
