Heard Mr. B K Mahajan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. R J Baruah, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, Assam. This is an application filed under Section 482 of the BNSS, 2023 praying for grant of transit anticipatory bail to the petitioner, namely, Pranab Kalita, in connection with Civil Lines Police Station, Raipur FIR No. 0232 dated 19/04/2026.
Page No.# 2/2 The petitioner has received a Notice under Section 179 of the BNSS from the Civil Lines Police Station, Raipur District in respect of a case. But, from the documents, he had collected, found that he has been named as an accused in that case. The petitioner has submitted that he is interested in appearing before the Civil Lines Police Station, Raipur and for that purpose, he will approach the Court at Raipur seeking necessary relief and therefore, he prays for interim protection so that he may not be arrested till he approaches the Court at Raipur. I have gone through the materials available in the record. This Court is of the opinion that the petitioner deserves to be given an interim protection till he approaches the Court at Raipur. Accordingly, a period of 30 (thirty) days is given to the petitioner Sri Pranab Kalita to approach the Court at Raipur for seeking relief in connection with Civil Lines Police Station, Raipur FIR No. 0232 dated 19/04/2026. Within this period, if the petitioner is arrested by Police in connection with Civil Lines Police Station, Raipur FIR No. 0232 dated 19/04/2026, he shall be released on bail of Rs.25,000/- with one surety of like amount to the satisfaction of the arresting authority. The bail application is disposed of.
