BARPETA, ASSAM VERSUS THE STATE OF ASSAM AND 2 ORS. REP. BY THE COMMISSIONER AND SECRETARY TO THE GOVT. OF ASSAM, DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE, DISPUR, GUWAHATI- 781006. 2:THE DIRECTOR SOCIAL WELFARE ASSAM UZANBAZAR GUWAHATI- 781001. 3:THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OFFICER RUPSI ICDS PROJECT BARPETA PIN - 781301 Advocate for the Petitioner : , Advocate for the Respondent : GA, ASSAM, BEFORE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE KAUSHIK GOSWAMI Page No.# 2/2 ORDER Date : 08/06/2026 None appears for the petitioner on call. Heard Mr. R. Dhar, learned Additional Senior Government Advocate, Assam, appearing for the respondents. It appears that on 22/02/2023, there was no representation on behalf of the petitioner. It further appears that on 19/04/2023, when the matter was listed before this Court, Registry on verification has put up an office note dated 17/03/2023 indicating that a prayer has been made on behalf of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner to withdraw their engagement. It is further apparent from the office note dated 17/03/2022 that ‘NOC’ dated 06/05/2022 signed by the husband of the petitioner is also enclosed with the aforesaid prayer. However, no new set of counsel has entered appearance till date. It is also apparent that on 28/05/2025, when the matter was called, there was no representation on behalf of the petitioner. Considering that consecutively there is no representation on behalf of the petitioner and no step has also been taken to re-engage a new set of counsel to represent the petitioner in the matter, the writ petition stands dismissed for non- prosecution. Interim order passed on 20/02/2019 stands vacated. JUDGE Comparing Assistant
