Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature mandamus directing the respondent nos.2 & 3 to provide adequate security to the petitioners and also to direct the respondent nos.4 to 6 not to interfere in the life and liberty of the petitioners, in any way. ii. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent no.2 to decide the representation dated 29.06.2026 (Annexure No.3) and provide adequate protection to the petitioners.” 3. It is submitted that both the petitioners belong to the same faith and are in a relationship with each other. It is stated that they have not yet solemnized their marriage on account of continuous threats and apprehension of dire consequences at the hands of the family members of petitioner no.1. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioners UKHC010112822026 2026:UHC:5240 submits that both the petitioners intend to marry each other in accordance with law, but are unable to do so due to the persistent threats allegedly extended by the private respondents. 5. Petitioners are present before this Court. They submit that both of them are major, are in love with each other, and intend to solemnize their marriage in accordance with law. 6. The documents on record reveal that both the petitioners are major. In that view of the matter, and in view of the ruling of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case of Lata Singh Vs State of U.P. and another, reported in (2006) 5 SCC 475, the petitioners have made out a case for grant of protection. 7. The Station House Officer, Police Station Kelakhera, District Udham Singh Nagar is directed to assess the threat, if any, to the life and limb of the petitioners, and provide necessary protection, if it is found that there is a threat to the life and limb of the petitioners. The S.H.O. is further directed to summon the private respondents, and such other persons, who are inimically placed towards the proposed marriage of the petitioners, and counsel them, in accordance with law. 8. The writ petition stands ordered accordingly.
