None appears for the Panchayat despite service. The petitioner’s father served as Gram Panchayat Karmi in Manindra Nagar Gram Panchayet and died in harness on January 11, 2018 leaving behind his widow, three sons and one married daughter. The petitioner being one of the sons of the deceased employee applied for compassionate appointment in prescribed form pursuant to which a three members enquiry team was formed by the Block Development Officer, Berhampore, Murshidabad on November 20, 2018. The said team submitted their report upon holding enquiry on January 17, 2019. The matter is pending since then and the application made by the petitioner is yet to be disposed of. In view of the above, this Court is inclined to hold that since the application filed by the petitioner seeking compassionate appointment is pending since long and the report submitted by the three members enquiry committee has been submitted, the District Panchayat Rural Development Officer, Murshidabad, being the 3rd respondent herein, is directed to consider and dispose of the same within six weeks from the date of communication of this order. The decision taken by the authority shall be communicated to the parties within a week thereof. The writ petition is disposed of. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
