ORAL ORDER
The petitioners are before this Court calling in question the registration of a crime in Crime No.25/2025 for the offences punishable under Sections 3(5), 85, 115(2), 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and under Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. 2. Heard Miss. Krishika G Vaishnav, leaned counsel appearing for the petitioners, Sri. K Nageshwarappa, learned High Court Government Pleader appearing for respondent No.1, Sri. Adit Chandangoudar, learned counsel appearing for respondent No.2 and have perused the material on record. 3. During the subsistence of the present petition, the parties to the lis have settled the dispute amongst themselves by drawing certain terms of settlement and have preferred an application seeking compounding of the offence along with the joint memo. The joint memo insofar as the present petition is concerned, reads as follows:

"JOINT MEMO
5. That during the pendency of the criminal proceedings, the Petitioners and Respondent No 2 in the presence of elders and other family members got into constructive dialogue to amicably settle the dispute, which led to amicable settlement of the dispute and the Respondent No 2 also has started staying with the Petitioner No 1 in their matrimonial house. Due to the aforementioned facts and with a view to amicably settle all the disputes as well as to continue their marriage life amicably, the Respondent No 2 has voluntarily with her own accord has agreed to enter into a compromise so as to compound all the offences pending in Crime No.0025/2025 forthwith under Sections 3(5), 85, 115(2), 351(2), and 352 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 along with Sections 3 & 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961 which is now pending before the I Addl Senior Civil Judge & JMFC, Chittradurga as the same would serve no fruitful purpose. 6. That the Respondent No 2 has unequivocally agreed to compound the offences alleged against the Petitioners.
Consequently, the Respondent No 2 is consenting for compounding of the proceedings in Crime No 0025/2025 dated 06.03.2025 for the offences punishable under Sections 3(5), 85, 115(2), 351(2), and 352 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and Sections 3 & 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961 registered by the Respondent No 1 police pending on the file of I Addl Senior Civil Judge & JMFC, Chitradurga against the Petitioners to secure the ends of justice, equity, and familial sanctity. Hence this Joint Memo."
4. In the light of the offence being the one punishable under Sections 85 and 115(2) of the BNS, 2023, I deem it appropriate to accept the application seeking compounding of the offence filed along with the joint memo and close the present proceedings against these petitioners. - 7 -

5. For the aforesaid reasons, the following:
ORDER i) Criminal Petition is disposed. ii) Proceedings in Crime No.25/2025 pending before the I Additional Senior Civil Judge and J.M.F.C. Court, Chitradurga, stand quashed, qua the present petitioners.
