His application was rejected and name of respondent no. 2 was recorded in revenue records. Revision petition filed by petitioner was also dismissed. (3) Law is well settled that mutation of name in revenue records neither creates nor extinguishes title and disputed questions of title cannot be decided in mutation proceedings. Mutation is done only for fiscal purposes. Therefore, orders impugned in this writ petition do not prejudice the claim of petitioner for title. Thus this Court do not find any reason to interfere with the impugned orders. Writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed. However, petitioner shall be at liberty to file suit for declaring his right, title and interest over the land in question.
